Global Remote Internships

A virtual program with real experience.

Your Discovery. Our People…

The World Awaits.

Are you looking to boost your work experience with an international opportunity, expand your professional network and advance your skills, all without having to interrupt your campus activities and coursework? ISA Global Remote Internships are for you!

ISA's team of Career Advisors will match you with an international host organization that aligns with your academic background and professionals goals. Through this 8-week individual placement, you will spend 25 hours per week working with your host organization on meaningful project-based work. In addition to the work with your assigned organization, you will be supported by a professional supervisor, a virtual orientation, virtual workshops, career coaching and be provided with resources to prepare you for your internship and beyond.

Note: All internships are unpaid.

Placement locations vary by professional interest, but participants can anticipate being placed with an organization in one of the following countries: Spain, Vietnam, Australia or Peru.

Courses and Credits

Each course a student takes abroad, regardless of the grade received or how course credit counts toward degree requirements, must:
  • Be approved via the credit evaluation process; Students are strongly encouraged to do this prior to submitting their application.
  • Transfer back to the student’s Ohio State record.
  • Be completed for graded Ohio State credit. This grade will be factored into the student’s GPA.
Admitted participants are required to register themselves in the temporary study abroad placeholder course, ARTSSCI 5797, for 6 credit hours. Specific registration instructions will be provided in the letter of acceptance. (Please see the ISA Global Remote Internships (Virtual Non-Credit Bearing) brochure to apply for the non-credit bearing internship option)

ISA Global Remote Internships are open to all ranks and majors. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and meet OIA's General Eligibility Requirements and Conditions for Participation.

Students may not graduate during the same term in which they are participating on a third party provider/direct enroll program.

Application Instructions
Applicants are required to submit TWO applications by the Ohio State application deadline:
1. OIA Education Abroad Application (start at the "Apply Now" at the bottom or top of this page);
2. ISA Application (Please select the following criteria)
  • Country: Global
  • City: Global Remote Internship
  • Program: June 2021 Individual 8-week in Global Remote Internship

IMPORTANT: Both applications must be submitted by the Ohio State application deadline.

Program Costs

Students will pay the ISA program fee (minus a $200 discount is given to all OSU students) directly to ISA. A $95 deposit is due at the time of application, which will be applied toward the program fee, once admitted. Students seeking credit will be assessed an additional $300 transcript fee.

A waiver of tuition for Ohio State students that participate on university-approved third party provider or direct enroll programming is in effect until June 30, 2021.

Students participating in online global programs will also be assessed a $50 administrative fee by Ohio State. If the student withdraws or becomes ineligible, they may be held responsible for a cancellation fee. Please refer to OIA’s Cancellation Policy.

Students should begin researching funding opportunities before they have been accepted into a study abroad program. Grants and Scholarships deadlines may occur before the study abroad program application deadline. Please pay special attention to the Global Online Learning Scholarship.

Please review ISA's scholarship page for additional funding opportunities.

Virtual programs may be eligible for use for a STEP Signature Project. Please contact to confirm.
