Transformational Overseas Experience

I studied abroad twice during my time as an undergraduate student and these experiences completely change the trajectory of my life and career. My first study abroad experience was a Spanish immersion program in Granada, Spain the summer after my freshman year. I then spent a semester studying at the Universidad de Sevilla in Sevilla, Spain during my junior year. These experiences helped me to develop my Spanish language skills, my intercultural competencies, and to learn more about other cultures (and my own culture!). They also led me to my career as an international education professional. During graduate school at NYU, I participated in a faculty-led study abroad program focused on the internationalization of higher education in India. Spending time visiting higher education institutions in New Delhi and Hyderabad opened my eyes to the way that other countries structure and administer their educational systems and the ways in which they’re working to ensure their students develop a global mindset.
